Hard Candy "Glamoflauge" Concealer

I love really nice clothes, shoes, and purses, but this small town girl loves shopping at Target and Wal-Mart. I've never had a problem busting out a Wal-Mart blouse with a pricier pair of shoes.

My good friend Natalie loves a bargain just as much as I do, and she was telling me about how great Hard Candy's "Glamoflauge" concealer. So of course, I had to pick some up the next time I was at Wal-Mart.

I have had some crazy hormonal breakouts that are leaving behind hyperpigmented spots (don't you just love those?). I've tried covering them up with Dermablend and Laura Mercier "Secret Camoflauge" (my long-time favorite concealer). They've worked pretty well, but I could still see remnants of the pigmentation showing through.

The "Glamoflauge" concealer pulls no punches. It's labeled as a "heavy duty" concealer. Yes, it's thick, but it's really blendable. It comes in 3 colors, "Light", "Medium", and "Tan". Medium matches me perfectly.

I highly recommend "Glamoflauge" if you need a full coverage concealer.
The best part---it's only $6.00 at Wal-Mart.

5 Under $25

I haven’t blogged in so long, so you may want to hush those howling hound dogs, put on a pot of coffee, and call in sick to work.

I’m back and ready to share

5 of my favorite items under $25.

  1. Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave-In Split End Protector Treatment- This smells great and really smoothes out those rough, janky ends.

  2. Herbal Essences - Long Term Relationship Leave-In Split End Protector Treatment - 6 fl oz

  3. Windex Wipes- I have these under all my bathroom sinks for touchups. product image

  4. Purpose Gentle Face Wash- gentle, cheap and never dries out my skin. I love to use this on my Clarisonic face brush.product image

  5. Tweezerman Slant Tweezers- I love these for my unibrow brows!Product Image Tweezerman Slant Tweezer - Pink

  6. Sally Hansen Just Feet Spa Night Time Heel Repair Wrap – use this with the Night Time Heel Repair Ointment. This gets rid of those gnarly-cracked Granny heels. Serious stuff. I think I got mine at Wal-Mart or Wal-Greens.

Do you all have any favorite items that you recommend?

Latisse Review

IMG_3800I’ve officially been using Latisse for 4 months now. I really wish I had taken “before” pictures, because I can tell a tremendous difference in my lashes. Not only are they longer, but a lot thicker and darker.

Initially, I was a little disappointed because I couldn’t see a a noticeable difference until about week 7 or 8. Then it was like I woke up with Bambi lashes. The only side effects have been occasional itching and redness (which I can’t totally attribute to Latisse) and eyelid darkening. I can handle the darkness, but I’m not digging the purple & pink darkening around the corner of my eyes. I’ve reduced my number of uses now to about 3 days a week & can tell that the pigmentation is fading a little.

Here are some pictures with and without eye makeup. I cannot believe I’m showing pictures without makeup, so excuse the splotchy skin….and for the love of wax….I need to make a phone call to get those man-brow eyebushes waxed.

IMG_3738 No makeup/mascara. I can tell a difference in the thickness here.

IMG_3740 No makeup. You can see the darkening of my lids here. No biggie….kinda matches the eye shadow I wear.

With mascara and eyeshadow. Thank God for makeup.

Side view with mascara, without concealer. You can see some of the pink/purple darkening in the outer corners & lower lash line. IMG_3811

Scary close, huh?

Are any of you using Latisse and what have your experiences been? I have decided I can deal with the side effects to get compliments like “Are you wearing false eyelashes?”

Flat Iron Review

Photo: Target

I saw a flat iron review in the December "Good Housekeeping" magazine. It praised the Remington Frizz Therapy " Straightener . It claims to provide 65% less frizz, even in humidity. The "Good Housekeeping" website doesn't show the extent of the testing they did. The online review says that it "changed the lives of those who tried it." Hmmm. Really? Does it do dishes too?

I'm too lazy to type or paraphrase, so I scanned the magazine article.

I've been having some serious static and fly aways with the yucky cold weather. I've tried all the tricks, but nothing has worked. When I saw the article, and what a great bargain it was, I thought I'd give it a whirl. What did have to lose? I already have 7,349 other flat irons.

I found the Remington flat iron at Target. On the website, it sells for $49.99, but it was $39.99 in the store. Check out the Target customer reviews. Holy smokes, these chickadees loved it.
I came home and immediately tried my new little "Frizz Therapy Friend". I have to say.....I love it. It heated up in less than a minute, and instantly smoothed my hair. I'm hooked.
