Texting and Driving

I've done it. We've all done it. We've read, sent, or typed a text while driving. How many times have you been at a red light when it turns green, and the person in front of you is in "zombie mode" texting & and you have to honk your horn for them to go? How many times have you been texting and slammed on your brakes in the nick of time before you rear end the car in front of you? I have no judgment, because in the many years I've had my cellphone.....I've done it too.

This video is eye-opening and heart breaking. It's not the gruesome one that was shown a few years back. It's true stories of people whose lives were changed because of texting.

Please take a few minutes to watch this video. And most of all, please don't text while driving.

My prayers and thoughts go out to all the people in the video, especially the families that are living with the loss of a loved one.

  3. I work in an ER and have seen several accidents that resulted from texting/cell phone use. We currently live in New Zealand, and it's against the law to do anything that requires touching your phone while driving, even if it's just to turn it on. I actually think it's a great policy!

  4. I admit, I have done it so many times (also tweeting and driving). However, I rarely do it anymore, and my goal is to not do it at all. Great post -- so sad for the people who have been affected forever in such tragedies due to something so preventable.

  5. My wake-up call came as I was driving through our neighborhood & checking my email. I pulled up alongside someone at a 4 way stop, and the gentleman next to me honked at me and said "I'm not trying to be rude, but please don't text and drive. It puts everyone's life on the line." ... All I could manage to say was "You're right. Thanks." then burst into tears!

Um, yeah, talk about humbled. I felt like the biggest a-hole in the world & every time I'm tempted to text, I always remember & think twice.

  7. DD the kids and I watched Extreme Home Makeover-although it always brings me to tears- it was about losing a daughter to texting and the families vow to bring awareness to the world -- my children shamed me -as well they should have-- and I have vowed to not text while driving-- very tempting still, but the vision of them having to grow up without me is well worth the wait!!!
